Learning through
Creative Play

Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. I aim to provide a loving, caring and safe environment for your child, where they can thrive, explore and have fun whilst they learn and develop through creative play.

Healthy Eating & Activities

I believe a healthy diet is essential to children’s learning and development. I provide nutritious freshly cooked meals from good quality ingredients. Children thrive from outdoor activities, so I promote exciting outdoor play whenever possible.

My name is Joey and I am an experienced and qualified Ofsted registered childcare professional. I am a member of the ‘Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years’ (Pacey) and am covered by their legal and public liability insurance. I have achieved the Cache Level 3 Certificate in Childminding Practice and have also trained and gained certificates in - Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection, Food Hygiene, Behaviour Management and Setting up a Childminding Business.

I adore working with children and am from a large family. I have had lots of experience ranging from being a mum of a 3 year old to working as a nanny for two boys and working in various children’s clubs/holiday clubs. I am a creative person who studied Graphic Design and I am also a keen potter who loves to sing. I enjoy art and design, music and films! I live with my son and long-term partner in Highgate. Since having a child I decided to move on from my career in media and design and become a childminder, as I think that looking after children is the most rewarding job in the world!

Our setting is a safe, bright, spacious and a stimulating environment with a great secure outdoor space. I have a wide variety of quality toys, equipment and resources to ensure that the children have the opportunity to have fun while they learn through play.

Our day is well structured and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). I am situated 5 minutes from Highgate tube station, 6 minutes walk from Highgate village and very near to Highgate Woods, Highgate Library and Kenwood House.

Day to Day

Children learn both through everyday and planned experiences, developing their language skills, their confidence and their independence. Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. When children are able to express themselves openly and without judgment, it promotes mental growth by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, and new ways of thinking and problem-solving. I enjoy giving children the best experiences that they can have.

Our days are filled with fun activities and are set up for the children to do everyday. These include working with clay and paint, drawing, craft projects, play dough, musical role play, gardening, cooking and sensory activities. I believe singing and dancing is an integral part of learning and development, so activities are planned accordingly.

All early years providers, including Childminder's, are required to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (Revised Framework EYFS 2014), which sets the standards from Birth to Five.

To ensure minimum separation anxiety, I work closely with parents from the very first day. Routines and familiar activities from home are adopted into my setting where possible. Individual and age appropriate targets for each child are set every month, from using cutlery properly to washing their hands independently. I will update parents frequently by email, text and or secure image transfer app, as well as filling in a daily book for the parents to take home. I plan, observe and assess in line with the EYFS Framework and fulfil all of the Statutory Welfare Requirements. I have attended training on the implementation of its contents and use it to ensure that every child's needs are met and they fulfil their potential.

I have a vast amount of equipment and toys for the children to play with, that are stimulating and age appropriate, ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate. To promote independence, toys are in easily accessible boxes so that the children can choose what they are looking for.

I run a well structured day and activities are based on the children's interests and developmental needs.
